Shining from the outside in and inside out

In the heart of Sydney, amidst the bustling streets of Roseberry, there lies a sanctuary of transformation, where scissors and combs wield more than just the power of style—they’re conduits of inner radiance. Meet Joanne, the visionary behind Shine Hair Salon, where beauty isn’t merely skin deep; it’s a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
With a career spanning 36 years, Joanne’s expertise extends far beyond the realms of hairstyling. “I am a hairdresser and an energy worker,” she shares, her eyes alight with passion. “I combine the two so that when people sit in my chair, they get so much more than a haircut. I make people feel good inside and out!”
For Joanne, the mission is clear: “Everyone deserves to shine,” she declares, echoing the sentiments of Rumi. From a young age, Joanne’s fascination with beauty transcended mere aesthetics. “My salon is called Shine,” she reveals, “but there was a time when I wasn’t shining.” It was after moments of personal turmoil that Joanne embarked on a quest to rediscover her sparkle—a journey that would ultimately shape her approach to hairstyling and life itself.

Shine Hair Salon’s offerings extend far beyond the typical salon experience. In addition to hair and makeup services, Joanne integrates energy work into her practice, offering transformative treatments such as Access Bars. “Access Bars® is a gentle, nurturing treatment with similar effects to meditation,” she explains. “It helps to release energetic blockages and limiting beliefs, allowing clients to create a life they love.”

But Joanne’s commitment to empowerment doesn’t stop there. Through Access Consciousness classes and one-on-one sessions, she provides pragmatic tools for personal development, inviting clients to explore the depths of their own awareness. “I empower people to know they are not wrong,” she asserts. “What if your wrongness is your strongness? I give people the tools to embrace their authenticity and live life on their own terms.”
Joanne’s journey to becoming a beacon of light wasn’t without its challenges. “I was disappointed with life,” she admits, recounting moments of heartache and disillusionment. Yet, it was during these darkest hours that she discovered the transformative power of Access Consciousness. “I incorporated the tools into my work as a hairdresser, and everything got better,” she reflects.

At the core of Joanne’s message lies a profound truth: happiness is not a destination but a journey of self-discovery. “You have to find out what happiness is for you,” she urges. “Stop being at the effect. You can create your own reality!” Through her work at Shine Hair Salon, Joanne hopes to inspire others to embrace their authenticity and shine brightly in a world that often seeks to dim their light.
In the tapestry of life, Joanne’s story serves as a reminder that true beauty emanates from within—that beneath the surface lies a radiant soul waiting to be unveiled, waiting to shine.

What do you do?

I am a hairdresser and an energy worker. I combine the two so that when people sit in my chair, they get so much more than a haircut.  I make people feel good inside and out! I offer a different perspective, and they walk out shining. My little interactions transform people’s lives.

What is your mission, and what makes you different?

I love the quote, “Shine like the whole universe is yours! “ By Rumi. Everyone deserves to shine.  Since I was a child, I have always liked making people beautiful.  My hairdresser salon is called Shine hair salon.  But there was a time in my life when I wasn’t shining, and I went on a mission to find my sparkle. I empower people to know they are not wrong and offer them a different perspective. I ask people questions, and somehow by asking questions, it gives them the answer, a different perspective, and freedom. What if your wrongness is your strongness? I give people the tools to give them all of themselves.

Happiness is possible, and you have to find out what happiness is for you! Not anyone else. I see my clients suffering from this reality. They are not being themselves. Discover what that is for you! Stop being at the effect.  If you find yourself at the effect. Stop and ask how can I be me, without the reaction? You don’t have to be the effect. You can create your own reality! I want to inspire people to be all of them!  As that is when you are free.
