Hennessy heralds a brand-new cycle in the Chinese calendar with The Art of Personalization pop-up experience that opened at Holt Renfrew at 50 Bloor Street in Toronto, on January 12, 2023.  The experience showcases a limited-edition collection from celebrated contemporary artist Yan Pei-Ming for Lunar New Year 2023, and gift personalization via the art form of Chinese calligraphy.

We are excited to offer gifting bottles adorned with Chinese calligraphy and a limited-edition collection featuring artwork by Yan Pei-Ming that symbolizes freedom, interconnectedness and hope,” says Veronique Gonneville, national communication director, Moët Hennessy Canada.

From January 11 to 30, The Art of Personalization takes over Toronto’s Holt Renfrew on Bloor Street with a creative pop-up experience that features the House’s signature V.S., V.S.O.P., X.O. and Paradis. Guests will have the opportunity to personalize their bottles with traditional Chinese characters through calligraphy.  Bottle personalization is complimentary with the purchase of Hennessy.

In keeping with its tradition of supporting avant-garde artists, Hennessy collaborated with acclaimed artist Pei-Ming, whose work represents an on-going dialogue with Eastern and Western history, to create a composition to welcome the new year.

Titled The Great Race, the artwork highlights not only the Year of the Rabbit for 2023 but the full Zodiac.  Inspired by the original story of the celestial race, the artwork features 12 animals to represent the 12 cycles of the Chinese Zodiac calendar.  The celestial race is an inspiring tale of animals that couldn’t be more diverse but support each other to harmoniously form this eternal cycle, which without the presence of the others could not exist.

Lunar New Year brings people across generations and geography together, symbolizing hope for the year ahead,” says Yan Pei-Ming.  “This artwork is a result of Hennessy’s commitment to supporting artists, providing a forum for meaningful creative expression.  It’s a gesture of love between Hennessy and the artist.”

The limited-edition collection featuring the vibrant artwork on bottles and beautiful gift boxes for Hennessy X.O and V.S.O.P. will be available for purchase at the Holt Renfrew pop-up in Toronto and at liquor retailers in key centres across the country.
