Warmth of Christmas Glow attracts visitors from near and far

Glow, Ontario’s largest indoor Holiday festival, is welcoming visitors from Toronto to Muskoka and places in-between. Set inside Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery in Springwater. Glow guests are free from snow, wind and sleet, and can stroll leisurely under the twinkle of a million lights through nearly 100,000 square feet of lighted sculptures, interactive activities, live entertainment and a Christmas market.

This year’s theme of “Glow Around the World”, leads guests through lighted trails to six countries—France, Britain, India, China, Mexico, and Holland—complete with lighted iconic landmarks and bustling streetscapes. Guests are encouraged to get their Glow “passports” stamped at each stop to earn a surprise.

“A great experience to be shared with Friends and family, shopping, Santa and selfies not to mention awesome cocktails and live music. What a fun time to be had during this holiday season”. -Pie Publisher, Sandra Roberts

“We’re thrilled to see how much excitement Glow is creating in Barrie and Ontario,” enthused Lawrence Jansen, CEO, Darvonda Nurseries. “This is our second year in business, after launching last year in Langley, BC. So we travelled to international trade shows to find the latest technology to continue to increase our wow factor. We found that recreating these mammoth landmarks was trending, so we handpicked some of the very best. In addition, our Glow team member, Breanne Kanis, actually designed some of the huge pieces, so you won’t see them anywhere else.”

In addition to the Glow Around the World light gardens, there are traditional Christmas light exhibits, like twinkling reindeer and a giant Christmas tree—perfect for selfies and holiday family photos. Designed for kids of all ages, giant LED swings and hopscotch that change red and green are sure to be favourites. And a Christmas festival wouldn’t be complete without daily visits from Santa, live entertainment, a licensed bar for ‘the big kids’, a garden centre for holiday decorating needs, and a Christmas Market featuring local artisans and boutique businesses. Christmas Glow is a robust seasonal experience for all ages.

About Darvonda Nurseries: Darvonda Nurseries is the creator of Glow Gardens, a series of indoor seasonal family festivals. Owned by the Jansen family, they began doing business in 1975, starting out as a 10,000 square foot glass greenhouse in Langley, BC, producing tropical indoor potted plants. The greenhouse facilities have since grown to include seven different locations, including Edmonton, AB, which feature 27 acres of glass and plastic growing space, as well as 20 acres of outdoor production area. The company uses its creative design sense to develop unique product offerings on a per customer basis and offers exclusive design programs to big box stores around the world.

With deep roots in their community, the Jansens have found a new way to connect families and neighbours year-round through Glow. Christmas Glow started in 2017 in Langley. In 2018, they are proud to debut Harvest Glow in Langley and Christmas Glow in Edmonton, AB and Barrie, ON.
